lecture 1 research and epistemology key personal notes

research and epistemology
how practice informs our research

“process is more important than outcome” - bruce maCH design 1998

stimulated approach-intuitive approach- systematic approach

if im not asking questions im not researching
primary secondary quantitative qualitative

does my view change what i have found out

YOU ARE THE CENTRE OF YOUR OWN RESEARCH
research is contextual, conditional and individual
there is more than one form of knowledge
knowledge trying to develop will effect how you research
your opinion, beliefs and experiences will shape and focus your research

DONT RESEARCH WITHOUT A PURPOSE
evaluation, reflection, justification, claims, inferences, application, communication

what you already know - identify what you want to know - plan how to find out
