media

for my final book i have decided that it would be best to use simple pencil. as it will be a publication i feel like it should be something that i know i can use to a better level than other medias. if my ideas werent as complicated to draw i would have considered a flat matt media such as gouache because the effect can look very nice on the thicker quality of paper in the print dungeon.

however my images are either going to be of characters or monsters in some form related to my theme from what i have established so far so it will be best to work with something i feel would benefit the brief most

final concepts

-main theme

FRONT PAGE:

as this one wont be a double page spread i want to keep it more simple. i want the page to explain the theme of the entire book. so the viewer goes into it knowing what they will look for and how to make connections with the imagery and the real world.

this will basically show someone of great power doing nothing for himself and making all the people below him do all the work

FIRST SPREAD:

this first image will be a combination of two themes. these been the idea of not knowing whats coming. represented by a cave/ tunnel with creatures/shadows cast around to show that there will always be problems and unexpected experiences.

second theme will be people getting commanded by some large boss like form that will be giving orders. i might make this one about how all the smaller people have to give everything they have/ worked for to the large guy. i might show this by using a well or some sort of depositing system.

SECOND SPREAD:

this one will be quite simple. i will make these pages show that you don't have any privacy, and that you are always been checked on. but i want to make this look like the government/ leaders are trying to be sneaky. so i will have people been watched. but also hidden at the same time.

THIRD SPREAD:

i want this one to be be an extended part of the front page, with the character the same, but the theme is pretty much the same. i want it to show how the larger guy uses the ‘smaller’ people for his own gain but in a lazy, unnecessary way.

FORTH SPREAD:

i want this one to show the gain that particular people get from businesses or factory like work. and how these people gain so much from what everyone else if putting the effort into whilst the workers get considerably less or they get broken down because they cant make enough to please “the big man”.

FIFTH SPREAD:

this one will be very simplistic i believe, because it will be about how people cant tryst other people and how you don't know who will let you down despite how well or personally you might know and trust them. i think this one will be represented very simply because of the phrase of a knife in the back. i think people will mostly understand this without having to know what they will be looking out for because it will be very simple.

BACK COVER:

this will be kept the simplest by just putting my name, and perhaps a small figure, or something distorted.

i could possibly put some more text to sum up the book but i hope that if the imagery is strong enough it would be unnecessary.

the entire book will be a sum of 12 pages.
